Tibetan Turquoise Gau Pendant
This turquoise Tibetan Buddhist shrine (Gau) pendant was collected by us from the Tibetan refugee communities in Nepal during our trip to the Himalayas. Made by hand with brass by skilled Tibetan artisans.
Traditionally, shrine pendants like these would be worn by Tibetan Buddhist pilgrims during spiritual pilgrimage. It is believed by those on pilgrimage that danger will not come from the direction where the pendant is facing. At night, the pendant serves as a shrine in the tent camps. This is a more modern version of the ancient styles.
Made with high quality tarnish resistant jewelry brass. Inlaid with small inlaid pieces of turquoise and lapis.
Dimensions: About 1".
Comes with a long 30 inch gold toned tarnish resistant aluminum chain.
A spectacular jewelry piece!
